Privacy Policy
Last updated April 21, 2026
Summary
The short version: Calorie Tracker Lab is a content publication, not a data business. We do not require accounts, we do not run a newsletter that requires an email signup, and we do not sell, share, or monetize reader data. The full policy is below.
What we collect by default
When you visit calorietrackerlab.com, our hosting provider (Amazon Web Services / CloudFront) automatically logs request metadata as part of operating the site. This logging is standard for any web property and includes:
- The URL of the page requested.
- The HTTP method (typically GET).
- A timestamp of the request.
- The HTTP referrer (where applicable).
- A user-agent string identifying your browser and operating system.
- An IP address of the request, which AWS uses for routing and abuse detection.
These logs are retained by our hosting provider per their standard retention period and are used by us only for site operations (debugging, traffic analysis, abuse detection). We do not combine these logs with any other identifying information about you. We do not sell or share these logs.
What we do not collect
- No accounts. Calorie Tracker Lab does not offer reader accounts. There is no signup, no login, and no associated account profile.
- No newsletter. We do not currently operate an email newsletter. If we add one in the future, signup will be opt-in and the privacy policy will be updated to reflect what is collected.
- No comments. We do not run a comment system, so we do not collect comment-related personal data.
- No third-party trackers. The site does not load Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Mixpanel, or any comparable third-party tracking infrastructure.
Cookies
Calorie Tracker Lab does not set tracking cookies. The site may set strictly-necessary cookies for caching and CDN purposes (e.g., AWS CloudFront session cookies for cache control); these cookies do not persist personal data and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Optional analytics
We may add a privacy-respecting first-party analytics tool (e.g., a self-hosted Plausible or comparable cookieless analytics) for the purpose of understanding which pages are read and which are not. If we deploy such analytics, the implementation will be de-identified (no IP addresses retained, no user identifiers, no cross-site tracking) and disclosed on this page. We do not currently run any analytics.
External links
We link out to other websites — vendor pages, peer-reviewed studies, hotline resources. Once you click through to an external site, that site's privacy policy applies, not ours. We have no control over the data practices of external publishers.
Email correspondence
If you email any of our published addresses (editor@, corrections@, press@, tips@), the contents of your email are read by a human contributor at Calorie Tracker Lab. We retain reader email indefinitely for editorial-record purposes (so we can confirm a correction was reported, e.g.). We do not share reader email with third parties. We do not add email addresses to a marketing list.
Children's privacy
Calorie Tracker Lab is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through our site (which would be unusual, given that we do not solicit any), please contact editor@.
Your rights
Because we do not collect personally identifying information by default, most data-subject rights (GDPR, CCPA) are vacuous in our case — there is nothing to access, correct, or delete. If you have emailed us and want your correspondence deleted from our records, email editor@ with the subject "DELETE" and we will purge the thread within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we change this privacy policy, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of the page and log the change in our update log. Material changes (new categories of data collection, new third-party processors) will be flagged in the change log explicitly.
